New Client Tips for Our Frankfort Location

FAQs:

What services are offered at the Lexington Counseling & Psychiatry Frankfort office?

Our Frankfort office provides professional counseling, psychiatric services, medication management, and mental health assessments for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Whether you are seeking therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship concerns, or medication support, our Frankfort team is here to help.

Where is the Frankfort office located?

Our office is located at 105 Diagnostic Drive, Suite B. When entering the building, turn right. If you see Capital Smiles Dentistry in Suite A, you are in the correct place — we are directly across the hall.

How do I check in for my appointment?
There is no receptionist or front desk check-in required. Simply have a seat in the waiting room when you arrive. Your therapist will meet you in the lobby at your scheduled appointment time.

What should I do before my first appointment?

Please complete your new client intake paperwork before your first session. Most clients complete this online through the patient portal. If you are unable to complete the forms online, paper copies are available in the waiting room. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete intake forms if you have not done so through the portal.

What should I know about insurance and payment?
If you plan to use health insurance, we recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to verify coverage, copays, deductibles, or preauthorization requirements. If you are using Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits, please bring your authorization paperwork to your appointment.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept cash, check, credit cards, debit cards, and health savings account (HSA) cards. Payment is due at the time services are provided. There is a 3% fee on all credit, debit, or HSA card transactions.

Is it normal to feel nervous before therapy?

Absolutely. Many people feel anxious or unsure before their first counseling appointment. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and welcomed throughout the process.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first session is different from future appointments. It is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know one another, discuss your concerns, and create a plan moving forward. During your first appointment, your therapist may ask about:

 - Current symptoms or concerns

 - Reasons for seeking therapy

 - Important life stressors or challenges

- Personal history, including childhood, education, relationships, living situation, and career

Most counseling sessions last between 53 minutes to an hour.

Who can I contact if I have more questions?

We are glad you are here and look forward to supporting you. If you need assistance, please contact our main office at (859) 338-0466 or reach out to John Thacker, LPCC-S, the Frankfort office manager.
