John is licensed in the state of Kentucky as a professional counselor providing individual therapy and counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. After completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, John continued his education at The University of Kentucky and obtained his Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling as well as a Graduate Certificate in Developmental Disabilities.
John Thacker, MRC, LPCC, has training and experience helping individuals address a variety of concerns, such as depression, anxiety, relationship and family problems, anger management, and substance abuse issues. He utilizes evidenced-based practices and treatment modalities, which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent/Child Interaction Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Trauma Systems Therapy. John also specializes in treating child and adolescents with issues including ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, and victims of sexual/physical abuse or trauma.
John provides a holistic, strength-based, and solutions-oriented approach to help others and believes that no obstacle is too great to overcome.
