Derek obtained his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University and is licensed in Kentucky to provide services to people in late adolescence to adults across the lifespan. Derek’s focus during his education was on integrating neuroscience and understanding brain health into the counseling process.
Derek Priester, LPCC, LCADC has experience helping people with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, anger, lifestyle problems, trauma, and crisis. He utilizes techniques from evidence-based practices that include cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness approaches. Derek believes in working with people from a trauma-informed and strength-based perspective.
Derek will work with you to craft goals to gain a greater understanding of yourself and rely upon the expertise you bring about yourself to each session to help you grow. An understanding of the unique strengths and barriers each person brings to therapy is essential in helping people achieve the changes they want for themselves in a meaningful and purposeful way.
