Terri is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, certified since 1982. Terri received her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1977 in Community Mental Health Counseling with a Minor in Rehabilitation Counseling. She received her Master’s Degree in Education/Counseling with focus in Family Therapy in 1981 from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Terri had her very first training in Alcoholism at Cambridge Hospital, Harvard University.
Terri has worked in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Treatment field since 1977. She has provided counseling services in Inpatient and Outpatient Settings and has experience working with adolescents, adults, families and couples. She has experience and training to work with depression, anxiety, anger, marital conflicts and grief.
Terri believes that people seeking help for life problems are seeking solutions. She see’s herself as a Change Agent and believes that clients need a safe and supportive environment to make changes in their life. She uses CBT, REBT, 12 Step Model, Matrix Model, goal-directed therapy, Motivational Interviewing & Spirituality to assist clients in their journey to improve their mental health, reduce their stress, and resolve conflicts in their relationships.
Terri has also supervised 9 clinicians to become CADC’s in the states of Kentucky, Ohio and North Carolina. She has also supervised MSW Student Interns from U.K., Kent School,North Carolina University, Counseling Student Interns from EKU, Lindsey Wilson College and Psychology Student Interns from Morehead State.
