Shawn Schaeffer, LCSW

Shawn is an LCSW who is independently licensed to practice Mental Health in Kentucky. After a career in the military, Shawn was drawn into the social work field while working as a school bus driver, pastoring several churches, and volunteering in various community outreach programs. Shawn earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois and went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Kentucky in 2022.
Shawn has a wealth of experience working with all ages and easily connects with his clients through compassion and empathy. He specializes in working with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. Shawn has worked extensively with children and adolescents; including identifying ADHD, social anxiety, depression, and childhood trauma. When working with trauma, he uses therapy models such as Trauma Focused -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which allows him to model beliefs and behaviors through play therapy.
